In 2013 I released Free Vector Maps to provide the design world with a highly detailed, easily customisable and consistent library of stock maps. Since its release, FVM has gone on to become the go to resource for vector maps on the web.
Map Glyphs is an extension of Free Vector Maps and looks to help designers and developers with a simple, easy to use CSS map font to use in their projects.
Map Glyphs is just starting out, and I am looking to add near, if not all countries in the world with future releases. Not to mention refining the project as time goes by.
Created to provide the design world with a highly detailed, easily customisable and consistent library of free maps.
Using data from Natural Earth, Twitter Bootstrap, Font Awesome and other great open source resources, I was able to create everything from the ground up. By doing all the design, build, PHP & MySQL development, GIS map creation, everything, I not only put all my skills as a creative technologist on full display; I was able to ensure that Free Vector Maps is done to only the highest of standards.
When I joined HealthTrio in 2009, user centered design was a foreign concept. Since then, I have been able to change the culture of the company to understand and appreciate the need to think of users first. These positive impacts have not only helped millions easily manage their health care online, but also helped the company grow and win new business.
During my three and a half years at HealthTrio I have worked closely with all aspects of the business and delivered our new Provider Search and Mobile Experience. I built a great UI & UX team and have worked with many of the largest health care organisations in the country.
Designed from the ground up, HealthTrio’s new Provider Search has been a stunning success. By starting with a fresh UX approach and knowing data was king, my team was able to quickly wire-frame, prototype and deliver an industry leading product in the shortest of timelines.
Working with every aspect of the business, we were able to not only meet our client’s expectations, but far exceed them. With an amazing effort from our engineering team, we were able to produce a brand new product that is extremely flexible and can be easily designed to meet the varying requirements our clients demand.
I designed everything for the app from scratch, including the logo and visual design, to the wire-framing and touch design.
The end result has been a success that has seen MobiPizza become a Top 10 ranked Family and Simulation application around the world. It was also chosen by Apple as a News & Noteworthy app.
Back in 1996 I finally set off on a lifelong dream to see the world. Luckily for me that journey didn’t end for almost 15 years. I was fortunate enough to meet many new friends along the way and even luckier to meet my wife who shared the same sense of adventure that I have.
That sense of adventure has taken me from Antarctica to Zimbabwe, trekking the Himalayas, to diving with sharks off the Great Barrier Reef. I was able to realise my dream of seeing all seven continents before I turned thirty.
My travels took me to London, where I was able to work for some of the largest brands in the world. I’ve also had a chance to live in New Zealand.
And yeah, living with twenty plus Kiwis in a converted church in the East-End of London while traveling the world when you’re twenty three sounds great, it’s so much better ...
